We had a wonderful time on 1BSI! Kent and his partner Heather were fabulous hosts. We took a ferry from the mainland to the island which was short and easy. Everything at the island was picture-perfect - we loved the rope swing, sunset rock, the walking trails, the gazebo, and our private dock. The cabin itself was clean and had everything we needed. We went for a swim and the lake was warmer than we expected considering the air was around 70 degrees and it was still early June! Though there are a few other stays on the island, we felt like we had a ton of privacy (rarely ever came across the other guests) and it was nice to know we were not completely isolated if we ever needed anything. We didn't use the hot shower, kayaks, or canoes while we were there but we would LOVE to return one day and take advantage of them! The sustainable initiatives in place there are innovative and really inspiring as well. Thank you Kent, Heather, and the 1BSI team for everything - hope to be back soon!

Gem! šŸ’Ž perfect place to get away and be in nature (though, there is internet and a hotspot if you *cant* get away completely). Cute island with shared (but never saw anyone) compost bathroom and DIY pump shower. The island is shared with a handful of other sites, but still very private and quiet. Kent provides so much information prior to check in and caters to your every needs - ultimate host! Personal dock, walking trails, kayaks/canoe/paddle boards, and so many loons. Will definitely be back again!

1BSI is wonderful. It’s private, peaceful and set in a stunning spot. It has everything that we needed and so all we needed was food. Heather and Kent were fantastic hosts. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and thoughtful to our desires. I very much hope to go back in the future and plan to take more friends to share the experience. Thank you both for the work you have done on the island but also the positive vibe you create for guests.

I very much enjoyed my stay on the island. The trails were fun to explore. The views are incredible. The loons, sunrises, and sunsets all added to the tranquility and beauty. The A-frame was comfortable and the perfect space for my getaway and had all the amenities I needed. Looking forward to returning!

Loved our time on the island, beautiful space to get away from the world. Kent was a great host and we loved saying hi to his dogs when he was on the island. We canoed, fished, read books in the hammock, painted, made s’more’s, and watched sunsets. Can’t wait to go back!

My partner and I booked a last minute stay with Ken and boy are we so glad we did!! Ken and heather were so welcoming and accommodating. 1BSI is one of the most peaceful places we have ever been. For a quick 24 trip we both felt like our cups have been filled! We are already planning our return trip and look forward to spending more time in nature and on the island. Highly recommend this place! Thank you Ken + heather

We had a wonderful experience on the island with our two young boys. They were really happy canoing and fishing on the island. The first night was pretty windy and cold, but the unlimited firewood helped cut into that significantly. Second and third days were beautiful weather and really pleasant to spend time and relax. Our boys are already asking about returning!

This tiny island is the perfect place to take a break from the real world, disconnect, and connect with nature. Everything is exactly as advertised: the amenities, canoes, kayaks, shower. Kent was so helpful and brought fresh ice packs for our coolers, battery packs to charge our devices.. he’s a great host. The water around the island is shallow, our dogs loved walking around splashing in it. The ferry ride is easy and they have wheelbarrows to help load your stuff from the car to the ferry. We had the best time. I suggest bringing a lot of reading material so you can hang out on the hammock (one outside, one inside). There is a grill, a fire pit, rocking chairs. If you want to shower, you can pump the water for a few minutes and then clean up. We were so pleased with our stay that we will definitely be back! Thank you, Kent!
