Pet-Friendly Island Dome on Lake w/Free Kayaks

This place is a hidden gem. You can see how much time and effort went into making this campsite so perfect. I looked at hundreds of options for the perfect campsite experience and this place far exceeds the others. I appreciated the detailed description of everything you'd ever want to know before arriving and that made preparation a breeze. All you need is food and clothes because every little thing is provided for you. The only thing I regret not doing was booking a longer stay because there is so much to do and everything is included. I will be back for sure! Thank you Kent and Sky for making our stay magical.

We stayed at Hemlock Haven during the last weekend in October. Our visit was nothing less than perfection. What Kent (and co.) has built here is really special. If you're thinking of booking here, and have any reservations about how it all works; rest assured, Kent's already thought of everything. Camping at 1BSI is absolutely serene, private, relaxing, and beautiful. That's 4 adjectives! <br/>Unlimited well water and firewood were greatly appreciated. The site was designed well, with all the amenities a few steps from the tent, including a full-size propane grill, tables, fire pit, and a hammock. Using the compost toilet was no big deal, and actually quite pleasant. The trails around the island provide great views pretty constantly. The wood stove in the tent was a game changer. The temperature dropped below freezing at night, but with the stove going and some layers, we were really comfortable. <br/>Can't recommend this stay enough. It's a very unique experience. We'll absolutely be back, hopefully many more times. Thanks Kent!

I highly recommend this spot. Kent has put a lot of care into the island and it shows. We can’t wait to come back. Our favorite part was taking the canoe out to explore

This stay exceeded all my expectations! Kent was the best host and was awesome at checking in to make sure I had what I needed, which really did make this a 5 star stay. The island was beautiful and made for the perfect relaxing getaway for me and my pups!

When I saw so many outstanding reviews before I booked this stay I wondered how that could even be possible, but there is nothing I can say that will do justice to the amazing experience we had. Kent and Jo were exceedingly gracious hosts and were very informative about what to expect before we even got there. We were extremely lucky to have beautiful October weather for our stay, which enabled us to take a peaceful, late-morning canoe ride around the calm lake. The hammocks were perfect for reading a book or an afternoon siesta. The visits from Sky and Shadow were welcomed surprises that we couldn’t get enough of. All we brought were clothes and food and everything else was supplied, making packing very easy and stress-free. We can’t wait to return again, and maybe next time we’ll come early enough in the year to be able to go swimming! Basically what I’m saying is, if you like camping then you will LOVE this stay!

Our late September experience on the Ackleys' beautiful island was nothing short of awe inspiring: the accommodations, the scenery, and especially the superlative customer service offered by co-owner Kent who handled all our needs and requests with both haste and sincere concern for our every whim. Also, he was a delightful, personable, and interesting host.

Kent truly made a little magical big island! Pefect getaway for getting your feet & paws dirty and jumping right into the lake!<br/>Kent was very attentive with making sure we had everything we needed for island life<br/>We'll definitly be back soon!
