Hammock Haven is tuned to Nature’s soundtrack — loons calling at dusk, water lapping beneath the dock, wind moving through the trees, and the occasional splash from someone giving in to the lake. From your island dome, you’ll fall asleep to these rhythms and wake as light skims across Annabessacook Lake. Days unfold to a steady beat: cooking simple meals, drifting in hammocks just above the water, paddling the shoreline, and wandering the wooded trails of our 14-acre island. No headphones required.

I can't say enough good things about One big sustainable island! The host is so fun, and his personality just shines throughout the island! When he said he wanted us to have a 5 star stay he meant it! I love how literally everything was thought of and more! Everything was so clean, and checking in and out was so easy and organized! The yurt was just so cozy, the lake was so beautiful, and gosh those hammocks were so comfy! And I've used a lot of compost toilets in my life, but the compost toilets on this island are my FAVORITE! They were so clean, and NO smell! And the decor was so cute! I didn't get to use the shower, but maybe next time!
It was so lovely falling asleep to the loons, and just adored seeing the eagles soar over the lake! I think I might have shed a tear or two packing up to leave!
I think One big sustainable island is worth 10 stars! And definitely can't wait for my next stay there! :)
It was a last minute booking adventure worth every moment of my time! I would go back again with hopes of enjoying each rental.
Kent and Heather were supportive and communicated well. I would recommend 100x 100!
Kent is a great host. Extremely thoughtful and attentive - its clear the work he has put into creating a welcoming and tranquil stay for his guests.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the island. Our host has thought of everything that’s needed to have an amazing stay and we’re already looking forward to visiting again!
Great little weekend getaway!
The host is kind and welcoming, easy to communicate with and makes you feel at ease and comfortable.
Hemlock haven was cute and cozy, we had everything we needed and more, definetly no need to overpack.
Would recommend to friends and we will be back!
Better than we expected, a weekend adventure that really felt like a getaway. This place had everything you expect from a camping trip plus more 5-Stars all the way! The attention to detail from Ken to make our trip spectacular was more than me and my family could ask for.
Oh yeah, “Did I mention we completed the BSI-challenge” What’s that you ask? Well you have to canoe to the island the day before a Hurricane. Stay overnight while the Hurricane passes and Canoe back the next morning all while having a blast! Safe to say nothing could stand in our way.
Thanks guys for everything.
Second time back at Kent's big sustainable island
It was just a fun &adventurous as the first! Great place to relax and get away from the business of the regular week day life
We'll be booking for a third time as soon as we can :)
Absolutely, hands down the best Airbnb we have stayed in. Our only complaint was that we did not stay long enough.
We woke up to loons calling, and bald eagles singing 50 feet from our place!!! It was unreal.
The water was perfect for swimming and there is a little swimmers dock on one part of the island that is great for playing, naps, yoga. It was calm as could be.
The camp had literally everything you could need to stay there. We showed up with clothes and food to make for dinner - that was it. The bed is cozy, the canvas tent we stayed in was great to play cards in and had a bowl and toys for dogs that come visit. It even had a fan that lasted all night just for a little breeze.
Kent picked us up at the dock and during the ride gave us the run down, cool sites to look for - bald eagles’ nest not far away, etc and was the best host. He loves what he does. His three dogs, Skye, Bella and Myla came for pick up/drop off and are cute and well-behaved. We loved them.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 1BSI!
Amazing time! 10/10! Thank you Kent!
Exactly as described. Off grid Private camping with personal service. We were never aware there were other people on the island. Our campsite was situated as to provide peace and a view. Any essentials we needed were provided. Kent was a kind and generous host who gave us an indigenous history of the land and lake. He cares deeply for keeping the island natural and reducing the impact of human activity while gently informing guests of ways to make that happen. In contrast to other properties with “Private Property” and “No Trespassing” signs this island posts public welcome sunrise to sunset signs.
