Our second trip to 1BSI and Naughty Dog Island and its so incredible and magical and they do everything to make the trip hugely relaxing and enjoyable and its just such a cool place, etc and so perfect for us and our black lab. Its simply the best, HUGE thanks to Kent and Heather for everything and we will be booking next year as well and Chris, Zelda and I cannot wait to return again!

If you want to truly unplug (BOTH metaphorically AND literally), 1BSI is the place. It's all the convenience of a hotel, but masquerading as camping. The beds (real beds) feel luxurious and comfy--better than your last hotel stay, probably. All the "stuff" you need (from kitchen stuff to furniture to kayaks) is already there for you. And even if you arrive in a rain storm, there's a clean, dry spot waiting for you when you get there. Hotel Camp-ifornia, I guess... Yes, you might have to put shoes on to go to the toilet. But the compost toilets are clean, sanitary, smell-free, private, roomy (you can stretch your arms and not hit walls or ceiling), comfortable, with real, honest-to-goodness sinks with soap and water to wash with. It's a toilet, not an outhouse. And a HOT shower. Also roomy, clean, yadda, yadda... You're unplugged from power, but not propane--you do have to spend a minute of light cardio to prime the literal pump, but it's such a rewarding minute. It's honestly cleaner and hotter than my shower at home. Kent and the crew eliminate all the things that feel like camping chores, so you can spend more time relaxing.

Incredible trip - it sounded too good to be true at first but 1BSI delivered 100%. Imagine packing for a nature getaway and being handed a whole list of things you don't need to bring! If you're reading this far in - don't hesitate to book as you won't regret it! Kent & Heather do everything they can to make it a wonderful retreat. As another reviewer mentioned, they are there if you ever need them but also give you your space to enjoy the wilderness. You can tell this is a lifelong passion project for Kent - there are upgrades being worked on throughout and I'm looking forward to my next visit If you're into sustainable living/traveling (and even if you aren't)- it's refreshing to see a project that stays true to their core mission & values. The realization hit me one night as I was building a cozy fire with some newspaper they provided as kindling. As the young fire grew, I noticed the newspaper had a crossword puzzle that had already been filled out. I realized that sustainability at 1BSI isn't a marketing ploy but an authentic way of life. The beauty of nature rests in it's authenticity, making this island a perfect getaway to reconnect

We LOVED our stay on one big sustainable island. We stayed specifically on the smaller island, Naughty Dog Island, and loved the privacy and connection to nature. Highly recommend staying here!

My partner and I visited 1BSI during early August of 2024. We stayed at Hemlock Haven two years ago, so we were looking forward to returning this year, this time at Loon Point. When we arrived, everything was easy. Kent and Rachel were so helpful, loading everything onto the boat for us! We shared a lovely boat ride over to the island, learning some history about the lake on the way. We were dropped off at the site, which was pretty neat! Kent gave us a rundown and answered all of our questions. He said it should feel like a 5 star experience (it did!) and to call or text him if we needed anything. From there we dropped everything and jumped into the lake! The water was perfect. If you enjoy swimming like we do, 1BSI is the place for you! It felt healing to wake up each morning to the view of sparkling water. The tent is spacious and has everything you might need. The wildlife was abundant! We saw loons, eagles, and a heron, to name a few! Sunsets were spectacular. My favorite spot on the site was the hammock. I remember thinking to myself in the moment, swaying in the breeze above the water, “remember this feeling.” Kent is always a wonderful host and an amazing resource. It is clear that he cares deeply for the lake and all its inhabitants. Thank you so much again, Kent. We’ll see you next year!

We love Obsi! This was our second trip to obsi and our second time staying at Loon Point, it is without a doubt our favorite spot to connect as a family. (Me, my 8yr old son, our dog) A 100% zero stress camping trip-thank you Kent! Everything we needed was provided, minus the food, drinks, (other than water which is delicious and provided by Kent, and less to pack yay!)and clothes. Can't wait to go back and make some more memories....relax, connect, fish, grill, canoe, swim, relax, walk, breathe, listen to loons, read, sleep in a hammock, paint, cook a s'more, watch the sunset, photograph a shroom, sit by the fire and star gaze, disconnect and decompress... repeat! Thanks again for bringing Wes the worms and bobbers as he requested Kent, they really made him fall in love with fishing! We look forward to planning next years family trip to this beautiful escape.

We had a great stay at Naughty dog island. It was the perfect place to relax. We did lots of fishing, sleeping on the hammock and cooked yummy meals. Kent was the best host! Already planning our trip for next year!

Our family of 18 recently stayed on One Big Sustainable Island for 5 days and we had such an amazing experience! Kent and Heather were so helpful and responsive. We were able to just relax, swim, eat and enjoy the island without any worries. The different camp sites were all beautiful and had everything you could need for your time in the woods. We absolutely hope to come back in the future!

Everything is provided except food, toiletries, unscreen including; Bedding Towels Games Lighting Cooking utensils, plates, mugs, pots & pans, tea kettle Gas Grill Potable water Battery charging for phones Salt & Pepper Sleeping for 4 (bed & futon) Ample seating for six Picnic table Swim platforms (one with a hammock) Spacious bohemian tent Awning Seasoned firewood pile’s available close to sight Bathrooms Ferry service (pontoon boat) to the island Free canoed, kayaks, 1 SUP, PFDs Ice packs & Most importantly; the BEST service of anyplace I’ve ever stayed in!!

I think I'm coming off the best weekend of the summer. If you need to take a break from your life/the world and reconnect with your childhood and nature, One Big Sustainable Island is a place you need to consider. Everything you need is there. If you want to be quiet, you can. If you want to be active, you can. The hosts are outstanding!!! If you like beautiful sunrises and sunsets, loons and eagles, turtles and fish, sunshine and breezes (it didn't rain while we were there, but if it did, it wouldn't have a negative impact). The spirit of the island is warm and welcoming for ALL.
